Our Romantic Hideaway

“An idyllic spot with spectacular views of the Black Mountains and gourmet meals” Country Living

Little Trewern is our beautiful stone-built farmhouse. It nestles by the river Monnow, below the Black Mountains of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The farm enjoys fabulous views of the Black Hill, made famous by the writer, Bruce Chatwin.

Walking, cycling and horse-riding in this unspoilt area are simply superb, whilst we are also near to the festival towns of Hay-on-Wye, Hereford, Abergavenny and Brecon.

Our Romantic Hideaway is  a luxurious ground floor suite, with a double bedroom, large private bathroom, a dining / sitting room with log-burning stove, and a fabulous terrace with spectacular views of the Black Mountains.

And if you come on a Romantic Break you will be our only guests!

Romantic Break means a rainbow over the hills!

The double bedroom, with fabulous views towards the Red Darren and the Black Mountains, is light, airy and spacious, and furnished with antique heirlooms from my French family.

The double bedroom’s Breton “marriage bed” belonged to my great grandmother

This double bedroom has its own private bathroom, with bath, walk-in shower, w.c. and wash-basin.

A Romantic break means a luxurious bathroom!

Your own bathroom, with bath and walk-in shower, leads directly from the bedroom.

The sitting room / dining room looks out onto the Black Mountains, and is a wonderful place to snuggle up to the fire if the weather is cool.

But if the weather is warm,  then the terrace is the place to enjoy afternoon tea when you arrive.

And talking of meals, we are absolutely passionate about the food that we offer!

Almost everything we serve is grown organically on our own land, or selected from specialist small farms nearby.  All the meals are prepared here and cooked in our traditional farm-house kitchen.

There is a choice of delicious evening meals, and you can choose from a wonderful variety of breakfasts, from the traditional English cooked breakfast to Welsh muffins, Cornish saffron buns, French croissants, Alsatian Kugelhupf or Bavarian Stollen!
